The Retreat 

According to ancient Hindu writings "Jati was where the first Hindu priest and sacred white buffalo arrived in Bali from Java". Since this time Jati Bagus is revered as a sacred place safe from the outside world. This New Year's Eve join Sue  and facilitators for a unique retreat experience. Using a combination of Sue and Rachel's  extensive yoga retreat experience and Grant's visualisation programs and facilitation experience, this is sure to be a memorable retreat.

The retreat will be held at the luxury Jati Bagus Resort located at the 30 mins north of Ubud.  Bali's premier Health and Wellbeing Spa Retreat centre Jati Bagus is set in 5 hectares of hillside gardens amongst lush tropical forests in the mountains of Ubud, Bali.

Each of the 8 spa villas is equipped with private jacuzzi and spa treatment facilities. All retreat villas are exqusitivley furnished with great attention to detail, offering a quality blend of traditional Balinese and contemporary Asian styles. Each villa is generous in size providing a private sanctuary where you can enjoy uninterrupted views of mountains, valleys and lush tropical forest.

The earth here blossoms with indigenous fruits of papaya, bananas, coconuts and mangoes as well as organic vegetables and herbs, many of which are used in the spa treatments for medicinal healing as well as for our freshly prepared spa cuisine.

The villas and Superior rooms are well appointed and generous in size, some with separate massage room adjoining the villa. All the villas overlook the lush forest with a true sense of tranquility and space. A very quiet and nurturing atmosphere surrounds the resort and you feel totally immersed in nature.

Bali Yoga Retreat Schedule
Arrive and settle in from 2.00pm on 27th December. (Jan 4th for 2nd retreat). We meet at around 4.00pm for a brief introduction and then gather for dinner. The first meditation class starts at 6.45am followed by yoga till 9am daily. Afternoons are restorative practice, yoga nidra and pranayama. The retreat ends 2nd January with a closing ceremony in the late morning.

Retreat Teachers

Sue Hawkins
The retreat is run by Senior Qualified Yoga Instructor Sue Hawkins who has been practicing for over 25 years and is the founder and director of Byron Bay Yoga. Sue has instructed on teacher trainings and workshops. Sue has been running retreats internationally for 8 years and currently hosts retreats regularly in Byron Bay, Australia, Bali and Vietnam.

Grant Hawkins
Grant has been intuitive reading and healing for many years following training in Reiki levels 1 & 2 and is a qualified Counselor.  He has facilitated an extensive range of groups and events and will be running a series of visualizations and life journey work as part of the retreat.

Rachel Hull

Is a senior qualified teacher and has been teaching for 12 years. She currently runs her own teacher training courses in Bali and India and has strong interests in Ayurveda and Acupunture. Rachel's style is focused on alignment and yoga therapy with a fusion of yoga styles which she has studied for many years.

Each day we meditate on a different aspects of our lives. You will experience a progressive journey of self discovery and exploration which is designed to bring you closer to your authentic self.

This retreat is an opportunity to reflect and re-evaluate your life from a different perspective. The effects are often felt for months after the retreat has finished creating an opportunity for a life changing experience.

The yoga part of the program begins with an easy sequence of flowing postures to strengthen the body, integrating some core strength and balancing postures, and working with the breath. The afternoons are directed towards a restorative and relaxation practice, often incorporating a Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) practice.

Yoga classes are open to all levels.

Personal attention with adjustments and modifications are given to beginners or participants with special needs.

Getting there:
You need to organise your flight to Denpasar and we will arrange a transfer to and from the airport. You will be required to pay a Visa fee of $US25 if staying longer than 6 days as you go through immigration in Denpasar. Please make sure you have at least 6 months left on your passport. Travel insurance is recommended as well as any medical checks with your doctor before you travel. If you need to discuss further

A non-refundable deposit of $300 is required to secure your booking, the balance due one month prior to Retreats can be swapped at the discretion of Byron Bay Yoga.

We provide a nurturing and safe environment and all care and responsibility is taken throughout retreats, personal sessions and in DVD instructions, but no responsibility will be taken for any injuries incurred. Medical history forms are to be completed before retreats. If you are unsure of your ability to participate due to previous injuries or any other reason please see your doctor beforehand. Modifications are given to students during retreats with special needs.
